Christine DORE

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- Christine (Dore) Wood, surrounded by family, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2005. She fought a brave and difficult 10-year battle with cancer.Chris was born on Dec. 13, 1931, in Auburn, Maine, the daughter of the late Arthur and Albertine Dore. She attended St. Peter and St. Paul School in Lewiston, Maine, and graduated from Waterville High School in 1951.On April 23, 2005, Chris and her husband John celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Chris was a homemaker, enjoyed sewing and arts and crafts. Motherhood is a gift that never runs dry. This gift brought endless joy to Christine.She is survived by her husband John; four daughters, Barbara and husband Dan Braun, Theresa and husband David Pobursky, and Diane Orlando, all of the Detroit area, and Suzanne and husband Antony Marriott of Phoenix; her sister, Lorraine Cyr and husband Ray of Ormond Beach, Fla., and North Belgrade, Maine; and her brother, John and wife Joan of Waterville, Maine, and Myrtle Beach, S.C. She also leaves five grandchildren, Stephanie, Andrea, Aaron, Joseph and Nancy; nieces, nephews and cousins; and an aunt, Eva Shea of Auburn, Maine. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, "little Theresa."A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Sault Ste. Marie. Interment will take place at a later date at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Grand Marais.
