Sophie DROBNICA

Sophie (Drobnica) Champagne, 85, formerly of Schwanda Rd., Staffordville, died Saturday (March 26, 2005) at Evergreen Health Care Center, Stafford Springs. She was the widow of the late Edward P. Champagne, Jr. who died on February 26, 1999. Sophie was born in Stafford Springs, daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Jahofski) Drobnica. She retired as a sorter from the former B. Schwanda & Son Button Factory. She was a member of St. Edward Parish. Sophie is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Edward P. Champagne of Staffordville, Dennis J. and Carol Champagne of Staffordville, and Wayne A. and Cheryl Champagne of Rocky Hill; a daughter and son-in-law, Paulette A. and David Depeau of Stafford Springs; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 30, at 11 a.m. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs. Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
