CARENCRO -Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Davis James Dugas, 56, who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, at Medical Center of Southwest Louisiana in Lafayette.Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro.The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.Sheila Toups and Richard Hebert will be the gift bearers.Musical selections will be provided by Ron Moreau accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be "Amazing Grace", "The Old Rugged Cross", "J'Irai La Voir Un Jour" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic".Mr. Dugas was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in Carencro. Mr. Dugas was employed with Richard Hebert Maytag and J & J Appliances.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam War.Survivors include his wife, the former Linda Melancon, of Carencro; two sons, Kevin Antoine Dugas and his wife, Cindy, and Shane Michael Dugas and his wife, Lynette, all of Carencro; one daughter, Angela Marie Dugas and her fiancé, Brian Gaspard, of Carencro; two brothers, LeeRoy Joseph Dugas and his wife, Suzanne, of Carencro, and Donald Ray Dugas and his companion, Donna Faulk, of Lafayette. He also leaves behind his best friend, Dale Miller.He was preceded in death by his parents, Antoine Joseph Dugas and the former Mable Marie Cormier.Rosaries will be prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday and at 10 a.m. today in the funeral home.The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Wednesday and will continue from 8 a.m. today until service time.The Dugas family would like to thank the doctors and I.C.U. nurses for the exceptional care given and a special thanks to Mazie and Monique from sixth floor.Pallbearers will be Kevin Dugas, Shane Dugas, Bryan Gaspard, Marty Dugas, Brent Toups and Christopher Moreau.Honorary pallbearers will be Emery Melancon, LeeRoy Dugas, Donald Dugas and Dale Miller.Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 N.
