SPRINGFIELD - Elizabeth A. "Bette" (Farnsworth) Bechard, 84, formerly of Lucerne Road, Springfield, died Wednesday at the Palmer Healthcare Center. Born in Springfield January 15, 1921, daughter of the late Eldridge and Margaret (O'Hanlon) Farnsworth. She was a graduate of the former Classical High School and a retired office manager for the Westover Knitting Mills. She enjoyed bowling and as a young girl was a majorette for the Franco American Drum and Bugle Corp. She was the widow of Victor "Pete" Bechard, who died in 1980. She is survived by two sons, Bary Bechard and his wife Judy of Springfield and Bruce Bechard of Raleigh, NC, 2 grandsons, Michael Bechard and his wife, Lynn and Eric Bechard and his wife, Deborah all of Springfield, 2 great-grandchildren Michael and Rachel Bechard and one sister Marguerite Powers of Westfield. Bette also leaves her good friend Pat Chaconis. She is predeceased by her siblings, Charles and Ruth Farnsworth and Alyce Birchard. The funeral will be private. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Kapinos Mazur Funeral Home, 64 Sewall St., Ludlow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Palmer House Family Council, 250 Shearer St., Palmer, MA 01069. Published in The Republican on 7/10/2005.
