COUTU, PERMELIA A., 94, formerly of Stillwater Rd., Smithfield, died Thursday at Hopkins Manor, N. Providence. She was the wife of the late Frederick J. L. Coutu. Born in N. Uxbridge, MA, she was a daughter of the late Napoleon and Albina (Anger) Giroux. She had lived in Smithfield for 77 years. She was employed by Esmond Mill for 12 years and Mine Safety Appliances for 12 years until retiring in 1971. She leaves two sister, Dorina Davis of Smithfield and Herlene Brodeur of Woonsocket and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Wilfred, Armand, John, Raymond, and William Giroux. Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the Elliott M. Robbins Chapel, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Michael Church. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours Monday 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917.
