LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005, in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Bertha Theriot, 82, the former Bertha Granger, who died at 8:45 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2005, at the St. Agnes Nursing Home in Breaux Bridge.Interment will be in the St. Bernard Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.The Rev. Jerry Mosley will conduct the funeral services.A native of Bosco and a lifelong resident of Lafayette, Mrs. Theriot was a member of the St. Genevieve Catholic Community.Prior to her retirement, she was employed with a rope factory and also with Trappey's Cannery. Mrs. Theriot enjoyed life and was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all.Survivors include one son, Walter Theriot and his wife, Rita, of Sunset; six daughters, Betty Pourciaux and her husband, Francis, of Lafayette, Ruby LeJeune and her husband, Aaron, of Gonzales, Hazel Latiolais and her husband, Donald, of Nina, Rhena Cassard and her husband, Justin, of Conroe, Texas, Rita Rodriguez and her husband, Randy, of Carencro, and Theresa Theriot, of Thomasville, Ga.; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Birdie LeLeaux, of Biloxi, Miss.She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Theriot; her parents, Adolph and Lodia Wingate Granger; one grandchild, Nicholas Pontiff; and three brothers, George Granger, Dallas Granger and Norris Granger.A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. this evening in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home.The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. today and will continue from 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of service.Pallbearers will be Walter Theriot, Nathan Pontiff, Warren Latiolais, Wayne LeJeune, Scott Cassard, Brian Pontiff, Shannon Landry and Tommy LeJeune.Honorary pallbearers will be Wyatt Theriot, Kevin Latiolais and Jade Cassard.Arrangements have been entrusted to Martin & Castille Funeral Home Inc. of Lafayette, (337) 234-2311.View the obituary and guestbook online at www.mourning.com
