SCOTT -Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott, La. for Austin "Gid" Guidry, 72, of Scott, La.The Rev. Gil Dutel will be officiating the services.Entombment will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Mausoleum in Scott, La.He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U.S. Army.He was owner and operator of Gid's Small Engine in Scott, La. until he retired. After retirement, he was still active in the business until his health started failing.He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Laura Guidry, of Scott, La.; five sons and their wives, Gene and Cherie Guidry, of Baton Rouge, La., David and Ivy Guidry, of Scott, La., Lonnie and Becky Guidry, of Lafayette, La., Byron and Melissa Guidry, of Scott, La., and Conrad and Angie Guidry, of Scott, La.; one daughter and her husband, Dianne and Joe Stanford, of Scott, La.; one brother, Herman Guidry, of Church Point, La.,; four sisters, Mary Daigle, of Church Point, La., Jeannette Daigle, of Rayne, La., Violet Leger, of Sunset, La., and Terry Zeranglue, of Church Point, La.; ten grandchildren, Amber, Eric, Megan Guidry, Brandy and her husband, Jeremy Lopez, Dylan Stanford, Sarah Guidry, Valerie and Jacob Guidry, Austin and Chelsea Guidry; three great-grandchildren, J.P. and Dustin Lopez and Hailey Guidry; two step-grandsons, Brian Stanford and Ryan Boudreaux; three step-great-grandchildren, Brian Jr. and Mindy Stanford and Rylin Hebert; and faithful canine companion, Monica.He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Aubrey Nicole Guidry; his parents, Aline Comeaux and Leuse Guidry; one brother, Burton Guidry; and one sister, Jolly Ann Guidry.Visitation will be observed from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. today and will continue from 8 a.m. Sunday until time of services.A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening.Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne is in charge of arrangements.
