LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Lena Guidry Broussard, 92, the former Lena Guidry, who died at 4:25 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, at Lafayette Extended Care Center.Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.The Rev. Lloyd Benoit, associate pastor of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Lafayette, will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Joni Hamilton, organist, will play "I Can Only Imagine", "On Eagles' Wings", "Be Not Afraid" and "Here I Am, Lord" for the funeral Mass.Survivors include one son, Francis Broussard and his wife, Denise, of Lafayette, and two grandchildren, Megan Broussard and Madison Broussard.She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Maxie Broussard; her parents, Albert and Noelle Patin Guidry; and one brother, Benton Guidry.Mrs. Broussard was a native of Rayne and a resident of Lafayette for most of her life. She was a member of the Cathederal of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Community. Lena was a loving wife, mother and doting grandmother who could either be found in the kitchen cooking, baking or in her yard gardening. She always had a mischievous twinkle in her eye that made everyone who met her laugh.The family would like to offer sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone at Lafayette Extended Care Center.
