Katherine Elaine KORSTAD

Malo (Korstad), Katherine Elaine, 94 -- Katherine was born and raised in Thief, River Falls, MN & graduated there as Salutatorian. She attended North Dakota University, joined the Chi Omega Sorority and received her degree in education. She taught school at Elbow Lake High School for 2 years. She married Arthur Fred Malo on July 27, 1934 whom she met at North Dakota University. Art was Transportation Manager at Swifts Company in South St. Paul and he preceded her in death in November, 1984. They purchased a tract of land overlooking the Mississippi River in Inver Grove Heights and raised their 3 children on their horse farm. Elaine was on the School Board in Inver Grove Heights and helped reorganize the school system. They later retired to Grand Rapids, MN, Ft. Meyers Beach and Naples, Fl. Elaine is survived by her brother, William Korstad and daughter, Marjorie Mecklenburg; sons, Art and Jack Malo and their families. Services will be private with interment at Grandview Park Cemetery.
