LAFAYETTE -Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette for Danny James Lavergne, 47, who passed away at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2005, at University Medical Center in Lafayette.Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.Mr. Lavergne was a native of Lafayette and a resident of Rayne. He was the owner of Thrifty Cab and Shorty Cab Company.Survivors include his mother, Verna Mae Comeaux and her companion, Chuck Champagne; and his father, Joseph Ray Allen Lavergne and his companion, Lynn McBride, all of Lafayette; two sons, Ray Paul Lavergne and his companion, Melanie Hebert, and Garrett Glider, all of Lafayette; two brothers, James Dean Lavergne and his wife, Connie, of Wallis, Texas, and John Blake Lavergne and his wife, Dora, of Lafayette; two sisters, Vickie Ann Nichols and her companion, Bobby Johnson, of Rayne, and Renee Elizabeth Hooper and her husband, Johnnie, of Branch; two grandchildren, Chase Noah Louvierre and Chad Chase Lavergne; one godchild, Ronda Michelle Comeaux; four nieces; and three nephews.A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11 a.m. Monday until service time today.Pallbearers will be Ray Paul Lavergne, Travis Nichols, Stephen Robertson, James Dean Lavergne, Garrett Glider, and Cody Lavergne.Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Champagne, John Lavergne, Ray Allen Lavergne, Johnny Hooper, Eric Comeaux, and Johnny Comeaux.Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 N.
