Mrs. Harold (Arlene E. Neveu) Arkens, 91, Green Bay, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at a local nursing home. She was born March 28, 1914, in Green Bay to Urban C. and Victoria (Jenquin) Neveu. Arlene was a graduate of Green Bay East High School. On Sept. 4, 1937, she married Harold Arkens at Annunciation Catholic Church. After 65 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 2002. Arlene was one of the original founders of the Bridge Marathoners at Annunciation Parish. For many years she was employed at Green Bay Box Co. (now Green Bay Packaging). With her husband they owned and operated Brown Co. Warehouse until they sold it in the 1950's. From 1962 until 1977 she worked for H.C. Prange Co. until her retirement after 15 years of employment. Harold and Arlene spent 17 winters in McAllen, Texas, until her health diminished. Arlene loved playing cards, especially Bridge; cooking, doing a lot of traveling and being close to her family. She was a very active member of the Lady Elks. Her favorite thing was to "eat out." Survivors include a niece and her husband, Judie (Wayne) Gauthier; great-niece and her husband, Victoria (Steve) Klaus; great-nephew and his wife, James (Marybeth) Gauthier; her great-great-nieces and nephews and their spouses, Lori (Nick) Ducat; Mark Klaus, Nicole Gauthier, Katie Gauthier; one great-great-great-niece, Payton Ducat, all of Green Bay; two godchildren, Mary Gauthier, Green Bay; and Laura Lohstreter, N. Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; an infant son; her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Melvin Zastrow. Friends may call at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida St., from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday (today). The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday (today) at the church with the Rev. James Hablewitz officiating. Entombment will in Allouez Catholic Mausoleum.
