ROONEY, John Patrick. Passed away peacefully after a short illness at the Montreal General Hospital on February 2, 2009 at the age of eight-seven. Beloved husband for sixty-three years of the late Peggy who predeceased him in July 2008. Cherished father of Larry (Louise), Lynn (the late Mik), Louise (Peter) and the late Brian. Dear grandfather of Kim (Alan), Matt (Julie), Eric, Sara, Luke, Jennifer, Laura and Philip and great-grandfather of Connor, Bryce, Ethan, Owen and William. Brother of the late Anthony, Margaret, Barney and Isabelle. He will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews. A proud member of the "Old Guard" at Henry Birks & Sons for forty-five years. He will be missed by his many friends, especially his fishing and garage sale buddies at St. John Brebeuf Parish. Visitation at the Kane & Fetterly Funeral Home, 5301 Decarie Blvd. (corner Isabella) on Sunday from 1:30 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. John Brebeuf Church, 7777 George, Lasalle, on Monday, February 9 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
