Daughter of the late Elwin Dean Wilkins, Q.C., and of the late Kathryn Loretta Wilkins (nee Mulligan). Beloved wife of the late John Donald Purdie (2006), and mother of Dean Purdie (wife Tammy), Sarah Galbraith-Marten (husband Jeremy), and grandmother to Jake Galbraith-Marten. Loving sister of Bill Wilkins (wife Irene), Nancy Whyatt (husband Tony), Kathryn Hardy, and Tony Wilkins (wife Marty). Born in Sudbury on July 24, 1931, Jane was the eldest of five children, and attended Sudbury High School. Jane then attended St. Michael's College Nursing School in Toronto, and graduated as a Registered Nurse. Jane worked for Air Canada as a stewardess, and as a private nurse to the late Mrs. Dorothy Killam in New York City. She continued her career in nursing at Sudbury General Hospital in coronary and intensive care, and as the company nurse at Eaton's in downtown Sudbury. Jane had a strong devotion to both her family and her friends, and enjoyed wonderful times with them, specially at her family camp in Birch Island, ON. Jane was admired for her compassion and understanding with all people, and she was proud of her family and her career. She was tireless in her struggle with Alzheimer's, and was a vibrant member of the Gardenway community at St. Joseph's Villa in Sudbury. She will be truly missed by her siblings, her husband and children, and all of their families. A special thanks to all the staff of St. Joseph's Villa, her friends at Circle of Care, and to her caregiver and friend Jean Sylvestre for all her love and efforts over the last three years.
