WARDEN, Joan Rosina Mary (nee Challis) - For all her life, my Mum worked hard at taking care of her family, friends, and the people around her. On Sunday morning, February 15th, Mum heard God say to her “Come unto Me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest“ and she knew that her labours were done. Mum joins her husband, the late William George Warden, and her parents Fredrick William Challis and Ivy Doris Challis (nee Ford). She will be sorely missed by my wife Clara and I as well as her daughter Wendy and her grandsons, Andrew and Gavin of Aurora. Mum was born on August 26, 1920 in Wandsworth, Ballum, London, England and came to Canada as a war bride following World War 2. She and George lived in Hamilton for much of their lives and then moved to Grimsby where Mum worked at Zellers and Roberts Gordon as a bookkeeper. She was a long standing member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church. There are no words to express my thanks and that of my wife to the amazing people at Linhaven who did everything possible to make Mum's life the best that it could be since she came to live there. Your care for her and us is greatly appreciated. Thanks also to the staff at Deer Park Villa and West Lincoln Memorial Hospital for her previous care. Thanks to Dr. Ron Ireland for looking after Mum and his guidance to me, as well as Canon John and Mary Hesketh for their constant care and support. Lastly, thanks to my cousin Robert Hubbert and the staff at Hulse & English Funeral Home for their help during this difficult time. My Mum loved gardening and flowers. She liked to see them growing and disliked to see them cut because they die so quickly. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to Linhaven Home for the Aged or West Lincoln Memorial Hospital. Sincerely, Chris Warden. The family will receive friends at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church St. St. Catharines, (905-684-6346) on Thursday, February 19, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place in the chapel on Friday, February 20, 2009 at 11 a.m. Interment at White Chapel Cemetery, Hamilton, Ontario.
