SIMON, John - John Simon of Midland, born in Hungary, a son of the late Joseph and Jozell Simon, passed away in Penetanguishene on Sunday, February 15, 2009 in his 92nd year. John immigrated to Canada in 1957 and worked for many years as a chef at the University of Guelph where he met Blanche Sutherland who was also employed there. Upon retirement, both he and Blanche moved to Midland where they remained the dearest of friends. John is also survived by his son Aks and many nieces and nephews in Hungary and he will be fondly remembered by the Cathrae, Parkin and Dixon families. Funeral services, officiated by Reverend Dr. Brian Goodings, will be conducted at the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME in Meaford on Wednesday, February 18 at 12:30 p.m where friends will be received from 11:30 until the hour of service. Interment will be conducted at McLean Cemetery, Bognor, in the spring.
