Nora Margaret MADGE

Nora Margaret (nee Madge) McKenzie - Passed away February 2, 2009, at the age of 89, at Arborstone Enhanced Care Facility, Halifax, N.S. Wife of the late Dr. Robert (Bob) McKenzie, and mother of Judith (Robert - deceased) Matergio, John (Beverly White) and Malcolm (Rosalie Burgess); grandmother to Andrew (Sara Cohen) and Hannah; sister of Arlie (Arthur) Laboret, Calgary, AB; aunt to several nieces and a nephew. Nora was a proud "westerner" (Edmonton, AB) who resettled in Newcastle, NB early in her married life. Together with Bob she raised her family, was active in the community, pursued a number of interests (including golf, bridge, gardening, cooking, renovation and interior design, fashion and travel) and developed many lasting friendships. She maintained a life-long commitment to the support and well being of her mother, Cora Madge, in western Canada. After Bob's death in 1992, she successfully re-established herself in Truro, NS where she built strong new friendships during the ensuing fourteen years. Nora will be remembered by her family and friends for her determination and competitive spirit, eye for design and organizational skills, love of a well-staged party and pride in all of the accomplishments of her immediate and extended family members. The family will receive friends at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, from 2 to 4 p.m., Monday, February 9th. A private family memorial service and interment will be held at a future time. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
