GALEN, Milton Nelson October 21, 1924 - February 8, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our remarkable dad Milt Galen, at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, B.C., at the age of 84. Milt is survived by his loving companion and partner Leontina, his sister Helen Koehli, his children Cheryl (Chris) Ingeberg, Larry (Rose) Galen, Alex (Kirstn) Galenzoski, Charlotte (Rod) Foster, Alberta (Dave) Blades, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Milt was born and raised in Balgonie, SK on the family farm. As a young man he attended Petersburg School and helped with the daily running of the homestead. Milt moved to Calgary in 1941 and began his working career as a plumber/steamfitter. He opened his own shop, Galen Plumbing & Heating in 1954 and was a successful businessman for many years. He enjoyed golfing, curling, reading and played cards with a passion. Milt enjoyed many summers at his cabin in Windermere and was a "snowbird" wintering in Mesa, Arizona. After retirement he moved to Windermere, then Kelowna and finally Kamloops. Family was very important to Milt and he was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and treasured his time with them. He had a grand sense of humour and loved to joke with family and friends. His generosity, good nature and big heart were apparent to all who knew and loved him. Milt leaves us with a memorable and loving chapter in our family history. A celebration of Milt's life will be held at a later date. Published in the Calgary Herald from 2/20/2009- 2/21/2009
