John Wilbur CHOVIN

CHOVIN, John Wilbur August 19, 1926 - February 25, 2009 John Chovin passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on February 25, 2009 at the age of 82 years. John is lovingly remembered by his wife of forty-nine years Rosemarie, daughter Yasmine (Keith) Taylor, beloved grandchildren Andon and Sadie, sisters Wilda McMillan and Betty (Al) Ambedian and brother Doug (Merle) Chovin; as well as many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by parents James Sr. and Annie Chovin, brother James Chovin Jr. and brother-in-law Wallace McMillan. John was born in Asquith, SK and proudly raised in Vanscoy, SK. He graduated as a Geophysicist from the U of S and spent years exploring the South American oil fields where he met and married his wife before settling to work in Calgary until retiring in 1982. An avid explorer, reader and lover of history, John loved to garden and was particularly fond of his roses. He loved to ride his bike through Fish Creek Park for fun and exercise. John was a loving and caring person who would help anybody and everybody no matter the task. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of John's life will be held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 1100 Berkshire Boulevard N.W., Calgary on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
