McGUIRE, Captain Frank Frank Robert McGuire passed away on February 24th, 2009, in Victoria, BC. He is survived by his wife Diana; sons, Roger (Sally) and Geoffrey (Danielle); and grandchildren, Harry, Julie and Robbie, all living in Victoria. Originally from Barrie, Frank's long military career included wartime service as an infantry soldier in the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment during the Italian Campaign, Historical Officer in Korea, and many years in the Army Historical Section in Ottawa with the PPCLI. After retiring from the Army he joined the staff of the National Archives of Canada and later the Canadian War Museum. Several years after retirement, Diana and Frank moved from Ottawa to Victoria. Frank was many things with a wide circle of friends. He was a military music aficionado, historian, author, avid trout fisherman, biblical scholar, true family man, and above all else an honourable gentleman. Private cremation. No flowers. Any donations to animal welfare organizations would be in keeping with Frank's love of animals. "So he passed over, and all the trumpets sounded for him on the other side."
