WALKER, Douglas Eric (born March 13, 1927) - Died peacefully at Muldrew Lake (Gravenhurst, Ontario) on February 21, 2009. He is survived by his daughter Cynthia Louise Walker, former wife Joan (nee Irwin) Walker, both of Barrie, Ontario, and his son Dr. Arthur Warren Walker-Jones (Carrie), and grandchildren David and Katherine Walker-Jones, of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The son of Arthur Victor and Dorothy (Follett) Walker, he grew up in Toronto, ran a construction business building houses in Toronto and Barrie, and retired to the place he loved best on Earth, his family cottage on Muldrew Lake. There he pursued his passions renovating the cottages of several friends, becoming accomplished in nature photography, and hosting his grandchildren at the lake. Thank you to the friends and health care professionals who cared for him in his final months. Thank you Dad for raising me with a sense of being at home with the birds, animals, trees, rocks, and waters of the Canadian shield and with a sense that, with a little thought and work, I could build or fix anything. You will be missed. A memorial service will be held at his cottage in August. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to his favorite charities: Plan Canada or World Vision.
