GILMORE, Mary "Mercedes" In loving remembrance, we celebrate the life of our inspirational and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who passed away peacefully on February 27, 2009 at age 89, in New Westminster, BC. Born in Grand Forks, BC, Mercedes grew up in Vancouver, the youngest of 6 Walker siblings. She lived in Montreal, Ottawa, and Victoria. She was predeceased by her husband James (former CBC Vice President and Acting President) in 1982, and by her son Patrick in 1967. Mercedes volunteered at the Riverside Hospital, Ottawa, and was involved in church organizations. Her beautiful voice was heard often as lector at Mass. She will be fondly remembered and missed by her family: daughters Katherine (New Westminster, BC), Mary Carol "Cary" (Coquitlam, BC); son Bernard (Strathroy, ON); grandchildren Jennifer (David), Robbie (Dealla), Kevin, Evan, Jonathan (JJ), Sean; great-grandchildren Craig and Ella; and many relatives, including Rev. Patrick Tepoorten. Mercedes' beauty and soul will be best remembered in her unfailing support of her husband, her love and devotion to her family, and in the strength of her faith in God. Our heartfelt thanks to Doctors K. Merth, Ellen Vessie, A. Madani, and the Respiratory Rehab Clinic at RCH. In lieu of flowers, donations to RCH Foundation, New Westminster, BC, benefitting the Respiratory Rehab Clinic, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
