ZELEM, Mary (Maria) Peacefully at St. Patrick's Home of Ottawa on Monday, March 2, 2009, Mary Zelem, beloved wife of Michael Zelem (deceased 1992) and loving mother of Michael and Barbara (Norm). Forever cherished by her grandchildren Cassi (Matt), Brianna (Chris), Jason (Ashley), Niall and the late Shannon. She was a wonderful source of inspiration, kindness, stubbornness and amusement to her grandchildren and friends and she will be missed greatly. Mary is also survived by relatives in Canada, Poland and the United Kingdom. A very special thank you to the caring staff of the Special Care Unit at St. Patrick's Home, and Drs. Uppal and Winter for their care of Maria over the last five years. Special thanks to Sister Geraldine, Sister Anna Clare, Alicia, Phyllis and Father Coady for their spiritual care during Maria's final journey. Also a sincere thank you to Dr. W. Laszkowski who took care of Maria for many years prior to her stay at St. Patrick's Home. Friends may pay respects at The Kelly Funeral Home, 585 Somerset Street West (Centretown) Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Friday to St. Hyacinth Church, 201 LeBreton Street for Mass of Christian Funeral at 10 am. Interment Notre Dame Cemetery.
