Margaret GREEN

GREEN, Margaret July 19, 1917-February 24, 2009 Died peacefully at Evergreen House on 2 North while holding her husband's hand, surrounded by her family that loved her so very much. Survived by her devoted husband Herbert, daughter Janet (Peter), sister Barbara (Roy), sister-in-law Johnnie, loving grandchildren Bruce (Christine), Jennifer (Lewis), and Kevin, (Susan), great-grandchildren Taylor and Dylan, and former son-in-law Don McGregor (Margaret). Predeceased by her brother Peter. Margaret was born in Sheffield, England and immigrated to Sorel, Quebec with husband and daughter in 1951. The family moved to Port Coquitlam B.C. in 1953, and settled in Ottawa in 1957 where she worked for R.L. Crain as a stenographer until she retired at the age 65. Margaret cherished the first 16 years of her retirement as a snowbird, walking the beaches of Treasure Island, Florida and meeting many dear friends over the years. While home in Ottawa she enjoyed spending time with true friends Ann and Ruthie, and loved spoiling her grandchildren. She was a talented baker, cook, sewer, and loved to crochet and knit. She was always elegantly dressed and had her hair done weekly at Richmond Beauty Salon. Margaret and Herbert moved to North Vancouver to be near to their daughter in 2001. She became a resident of 2 North at Evergreen House in March 2008, after being weakened by pneumonia. Her family would like to thank Dr. Schwartz and his locum Dr. Gilbert for their on going care over the last 8 years. Margaret received exceptional nursing care on 2 North. We sincerely thank the nurses and care aides who made her so comfortable towards the end of her life, and for the support given to her family through this difficult time. You truly are angels on earth! Bless your little heart, we love you and miss you Nan.
