WALKER, Ruth (nee Levita) - “Ruthie“ passed away peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer, in her 80th year, on Tuesday, March 17th, 2009. Predeceased by her parents, Ben and Lillian Levita. Devoted mother always and best friend of Dianne (Terry). Loved and missed by her special little “grand-dog“, Mandy. Saddened by her loss but rejoicing in the many good times they shared is her best friend through all the good times and the bad, Eileen Davies of Grand Forks, B.C. She will also be remembered fondly and loved always by her South Carolina family, Lois and Ken Boggs and Lura Ward, and her special friend, May Robinson of Peterborough. Mom was a woman who did not have an easy life but made the best of what she had, and she loved life. We had great enjoyment from our trips over the past 20 years to the southern U.S. states, mainly Tennessee, Kentucky and South Carolina. She also loved our simple day trips out for lunches and shopping to her favourite store, Wal Mart. Many thanks to Peter of the Pizza Factory over the past 25 years for the fun times and happiness we shared there, and to Monica, our favourite waitress who always took the time to care. Mom also loved her T.V., especially her favourite, “Coronation Street“, and she loved playing bingo. I wish I could be there to see the excitement of all our beloved animals bounding up to Heaven's gate to greet “Grandma“. One of her greatest enjoyments over the years was her love of animals, so I know she will be lead into Heaven by “Bonnie“, “Penny“, “Midnight“, “Shadow“, “Sammy“, “Smokey“, “Heidi“ and “Jessie“, which makes me smile. Mom enjoyed so much the last eight months she lived at the St. John's Centre in Peterborough. Thanks to all the special people who helped Mom there, Karen Martin, Mary and Helen, Randy, and the girls, Karen, Judy, Sara, Cindy and especially dear Anne who is an angel. Also thanks to her friends there, Iris, Charlotte, Faith, Barb, Billie, Jean and Gertie, and to all the kind people at St. Joseph's Rehab in March 2008 who helped Mom learn to walk again after she broke her hip, especially Jesse and Yolanta, who never gave up on her and the caring nurses at the Palliative Care Unit, especially Tanya, Candace, Tania, Kim, Rob and Will. You made me so proud of you Mom. You are my hero. Our journey through life may have come to an end but you will always be carried in my heart until we meet again in Heaven. At Ruth's request cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to COMMUNITY ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL HOME, (705) 742-1875. 11447095
