BURNS, Marie Jose (Vicki) - December 9, 1933 – March 31, 2009 It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Marie Jose (Vicki) Burns. The youngest of five children born to Marie & Robert Edgar Vick of Newhill, Alberta, she left the farm to join the RCAF in 1952. Vicki married Gerald Robert (Bob) Burns of Toronto, Ontario on November 19, 1955 in Marville, France. Their life in the RCAF took them many places until retirement in 1979. She was a compassionate care giver as a nurse’s aid to seniors and special needs children. Her love for animals started young and remained throughout her life. Her interests extended to horses and farming, gardening, camping, travelling and genealogy. She will be dearly missed by her husband Bob; her children and spouses, Cliff & Jeannine, Aryn & Jamie, Linda & Neil, Arlene & Rollie, Norm & Brenda, Karen & Paul; grandchildren, Adam, Andrew, Sharon, Jennifer, Jordan, Caitlin, Connor; her siblings and spouses, Charlotte, Robert & Audrey, Lucy & Lorne, Agnes & John and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother-in-law Ross. A Prayer Service will be held Friday at 7:00 pm at Evergreen Funeral Chapel, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton. The memorial service will be held on Saturday at 12:30 PM at Assumption Church, 9040 – 95 Ave, Edmonton. A gathering will follow at the Ottewell Community League, 5920 – 93A Ave, Edmonton. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson’s Society of Alberta are welcomed.
