Barbara Ann BRISBIN

BENSON, Barbara Ann 1923-2009 Barbara left us on Monday, March 16, supported by her family and the compassionate staff of Carleton Lodge. She was the loving wife of the late G. Campbell Benson, mother of Chal (Gail Ratcliff) and Gayle (Henry Jakubinek), and fond grandma of Paul Jakubinek (Tova Larsen) and Michael Jakubinek (Tara Swords). Predeceased by her brother James Brisbin (Helen) of Guelph. A university-educated chemist, Barb devoted most of her adult life to the welfare and success of family members, and to her values of Christian charity. Over the course of a long journey with Alzheimer's disease, Barbara and her family had the support of friends, her church community, and many caring professionals and volunteers. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion), on Thursday, March 19 at 10 a.m. followed by a visitation/reception. In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed to the Restoration Fund of First Baptist Church (141 Laurier Ave. West, Ottawa, ON, K1P 5J4) or to a charity of your choice.
