SCHMIDT, Gerald A. (Gerry) - of Woodlands of Sunset passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 in his 80th year surrounded by his immediate family. Beloved husband of Josephine (Jo) Schmidt (nee Ludwig). Loving father of Lonny (Nancy-deceased), Barry (Linda), Delene, Darren (Carole) and Rob (Sandi). Also loved by his grandchildren Ryan, Stan (Tina), Dina, Mindy, Alana, Katie, Juila, Hayley, Ben and great-grandson Austin. Loving brother of Nylene (Baird), Carole (Harry) and Ron (Carla). Gerry retired from teaching in 1985 after 36 years, the last 15 as music teacher at Welland Centennial Secondary School. He also directed the St. Kevin's Church choir and the Club Reingold Liederkrantz choir. Gerry was a long standing member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight of Council 2146 in Welland. A private family service will be held. Friends are invited to visit the family at the H.L. CUDNEY FUNERAL HOME, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Saturday, April 11, 2009 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada will be appreciated. 11470334
