Alan Richard NUNN

NUNN, Alan Richard - Died quietly at home with family around him on Wednesday, November 3, 2004. Born March 3, 1920 in Birmingham, England, Alan was always interested in the theatre. During WWII he was posted in Canada where he met and married his wife Marion. After the war he pursued his interest in theatre through the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. His work as an actor took him all over England and North America performing with the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, British Arts Council, The Old Vic, Stratford Festival, Shaw Festival, National Arts Centre, Canadian Players, Crest Theatre and the Red Barn Theatre. He worked as an actor throughout his life, but was also house manager of the O'Keefe Centre and a teacher at Seneca College. After his retirement from Seneca, he came to the Peterborough area. He founded the Lakefield Readers Theatre, earned his Bachelor of Arts at Trent University, taught Shakespeare through Class Connections, read to seniors at Applewood Manor, wrote M'kenzies Cloak, an historical mystery for young people, recorded books for the CNIB, was secretary of the intergenerational group at Ridpath School and was an active member of St. John the Baptist, Lakefield. He was a successful actor, besotted husband, loving parent and silly bugger. Committed to his community, church and family, Alan will be sorely missed. His wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will celebrate his life with his friends and community on November 20, 2004 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist, Lakefield. Please join us.
