GIESE Raymond Ernest 1925 - 2006 Ray passed peacefully with Ethel at his side on March 7 at Rimby Care Centre, Alberta. Born in Golden Spike, one of nine children of William and Caroline, he served his country as an RCAF pilot in World War II, and returned to marry the love of his life, Ethel Mary Pollock, on June 28, 1951. Ray is survived by Ethel and their children; his daughter Beverlee (her husband Terry Miller, children Sean and Chelsea); daughter Brenda (her husband Bruce Birney, children, Laibrook, Cressa, Charis, Baden and Michali); daughter Joanne (husband Bruce Wiechert, children, Lindsay, Stephen, Kelsey and Christopher); daughter Jill (partner John Dingle); son William (wife Gwen and children, Riley and Calvin). Ray's devotion to family and friendship was deeply felt by all who shared his life. His quiet, understated manner modestly cloaked a quick mind, sharp sense of humour and intellect. In addition his love of flight, friends, travel, animals, carpentry, crosswords, politics and a good debate were his passions. But most of all, he loved Ethel. From young lovers to solid parents, grandparents and traveling buddies, they were best friends to the end. As he makes his final flight into the wild blue yonder his spirit remains with her, his children, grandchildren and friends. "Have a great flight Ray." In lieu of flowers, donations to his incredible caregivers at Rimby Hospital and Care Centre, 5228 - 50 Avenue, Rimby, Alberta T0C 2J0. Join Ethel and family and friends in Sylvan Lake for the first annual celebration of Ray's life on August 19, 2006. RSVP for details to Beverlee Miller 1-250-423-3515
