Pleuntje Hendrika Jacoba DIJKSTRA

de WAARD, Pleuntje Hendrika Jacoba (nee Dijkstra) Hendrika de Waard of Calgary passed away after a long illness on January 7, 2006 at the Rosedale Hospice. Hendrika was born in Hilversum, the Netherlands, on August 9, 1927, and came to Canada in 1956. She was predeceased by her husband, Pieter, in 1988; and is survived by daughters, Paula Jones (husband Colin and grandsons, Chris and Shaun) of Calgary, Teresa de Waard, of Linden; and sons, Aldert de Waard, of Calgary, and Mark de Waard (Costa Rica); and by many family members in the Netherlands. Long active in athletics and swimming with Calgary Parks and Recreation, she led a quiet, principled life and was the best mother and grandmother we could have wished for. At her request, no service will be held and flowers are gratefully declined. If they so desire, friends may make memorial tributes directly to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Rosedale Hospice.
