GILLIHAM Norman Albert 1923 - 2006 Norman Albert Gilliham, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at the age of 82 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Norm Howarth; grandchildren, Grant, Marc and Kelly, Ryan, and Katie; and great-grandson Jarvas. Norman was predeceased by his beloved wife Rose in 1989; they are now together in the loving arms of God. Born in Calgary, Norman served his country in the Royal Canadian Navy and met his wife when his ship docked in Sydney, NS. Returning to Calgary, he worked at Bruce Robinson Electric and later as manager of Westland Metals, but left to pursue his love of construction. Through his company McGill Holdings Ltd., he built many industrial buildings and later devoted his time and expertise to the building of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Norman loved to golf and travel but his charity work gave him tremendous satisfaction. As president of the YMCA and charter member of the Y's Men's Club, he participated in service projects for many years. At his death, he was the Treasurer of the Holy Spirit Charitable Society and was still delivering Meals on Wheels. He had a special love of Rolls Royces and was finally able to own a 1980 Silver Wraith. With his incredible sense of humour, Norman took great pleasure in donning a chauffeur's hat and driving his family to weddings, graduations, and other special events. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827 - 24 Street S.W.) on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev.
