Gwynneth Edith JONES

MUDIE Gwynneth Edith (nee Jones) 1929 - 2006 It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Gwynneth Mudie on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 in the Cardiac Ward of Foothills Hospital at the age of 76 years. She passed away peacefully after a short illness surrounded by her four sons, sister, and other family members. Gwynneth will be fondly remembered by all who knew her for her warmth, generosity, fun-loving spirit and devotion to family. Her memory will be deeply revered by her four sons, Michael Wayne of Calgary, Peter Edwin of Perth, Australia, David William of Calgary and James Edward of Kelowna, B.C.; her nine grandchildren, Jesse Winter, Jennifer Lynn, Linda Marie, Casey James, Steven Edwin, Kim Aynsley, Davis Michael, Natasha Elna, Walt Alexander; and her sister Gwendolyn Mary Ambrose of Brentwood Bay, B.C. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Ellen Lavinia Jones (nee Clutterbuck), her brother Edward Lewis Jones and her beloved spouse Walter Mudie. Gwynneth was born in Calgary May 30, 1929, completed her schooling at C.C.I. High School in 1948 and graduated from Calgary General Hospital as a Registered Nurse in 1951. She married Walter Mudie, a geologist with Chevron Standard, on December 22, 1951 and they lived in a number of locations in Central Alberta before settling and starting a family in Calgary. Gwynneth and Walter moved to Edmonton in 1958, before returning to Calgary in 1973. Following the passing of her life partner in 1983, Gwynneth lived the remainder of her years at her home in Calgary and spent summers at her cottage at Gull Lake, Alberta. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, knitting and nature-watching. It was Gwynneth's wish not to have a Formal Service to mark her passing and a private family memorial will be held at Gull Lake following her cremation. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation.
