ENDEMANN, Peggy (nee Elsa Maj Ingeborg Mallander) Peacefully, at the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre, Ottawa on May 18 at the age of 92, following a long illness which she faced with courage, strength and humour. She led a wonderful life, admired everywhere for her remarkable attributes and as a wife, mother, sister and friend. Predeceased by her beloved husband John, companion of 58 years. Survived by devoted sons Christian, Fredrik and Lennart plus daughters-in-law Patricia and Carol, as well as grandchildren Kirstin, Birgitta, Bjorn, Britt, Ashley, David and Erica. Sorely missed by relatives in Sweden and South Africa. She had six older brothers and sisters, none of whom survive her. Peggy was much loved and admired by a host of diplomatic colleagues and friends in Canada and abroad after years sharing her husband's distinguished diplomatic career. John and Peggy embraced Canada following their retirement in 1978 and were cherished by their many friends here who were always touched by their warmth and hospitality. Special thanks to the staff of Billings Lodge and the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre for their compassionate care. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod St., on Thursday, May 25, 2006 from 1:30 p.m. until the service in the Chapel at 2:30 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions to the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
