LIMACHER John Alphonse 1925 - 2006 John Alphonse Limacher, beloved husband of Florence Limacher for over fifty-two years, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Friday, July 28, 2006. In addition to Florence, John is survived by seven children, Richard (Katherine), Patricia (George), Daniel (Lori), Cathy (Lorne), Gerald (Jeanne), David (Melanie) and Paul (Jennifer); daughter-in-law Marilyn; sixteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and five brothers and sisters, Mary, Matilda, Angela, Margaret and Bernard. John was predeceased by six brothers and sisters, Annie, Joseph, Madeline, Hildegarde, Herman, Albert and Anthony. John was born in Expanse, Sask., on December 6, 1925, and grew up in a farming family in the Mazenod area. He left there in 1943 to serve in the navy in World War II. Upon returning to Canada, he met and married Florence. They moved to Calgary in 1954 and began their family life together. John worked for over forty years in the banking and insurance industry, spending most of his career with Excelsior Life. John was also a music lover and, in 1972, he and several other avid opera fans co-founded the Southern Alberta Opera Association. After he retired in 1989, John found a new passion in painting and became quite accomplished in oil and watercolours. Most of all, John was a wonderful husband and a loving father. He was warm and kind, and saw only good things in all people. John loved each day and could always see that "bright spot in the west". Florence and family would like to thank the staff at the McKenzie Towne Care Facility for the care and attention they provided John in his last weeks. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. with The Rev.
