John Thomas Elwood LENNOX

LENNOX, John Thomas Elwood - March 1, 1918 - November 27, 2004. Jack Lennox lived in Chippawa for almost all of his ninety-four years. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Nora and son John, brothers Clarence and Maurice and sisters Doris and Dorothy. Jack is survived by daughter, Jennifer Young of Toronto, son David and his wife Virginia of Barrie, grandsons Jason (Giananne), and Joshua (Lucy), of Niagara Falls, Chris Roach (Leola) of Windsor, and Andrew Roach of Toronto. As well, Jack leaves brother Gordon and sister Audrey Burroughes of Niagara Falls. Jack was a proud great-grandfather to Jonas and Joshua Lennox and Aurora Buckley. Jack worked for a short time at the Norton Co., served in the R.C.A.F. in WWII in Canada and England, and afterward joined Canada Customs, where he worked until his retirement in 1978. Love for his family and friends and concern for their well-being formed the central core of his being. These qualities made Jack known for his commitment to working for the betterment of his community. He was a founding member of the Chippawa Volunteer Fire Department and the Chippawa Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. He held executive positions in several firemen's association, the Welland Co. Co-op Medical Services, the Customs-Excise Officers Association and the Stamford Credit Union. In addition he served four years on the Chippawa Public School Board. He was a lifelong faithful member of Holy Trinity Church, an active participant in most aspects of church life. He leaes behind many grieving family members and valued friends, who will long remember Jack's special qualities of warmth, honesty, loyalty and a capacity for good hard work.
