David "Knobby" Scott White March 31, 1939 - February 06, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Campbell's Funeral Home David Scott White “Knobby” age 65 of Tidnish, N.S. died on Sunday, February 6, 2005 at Moncton Hospital, N.B. Born in Amherst he was a son of the late Gerald and Jean (Scott) White. David is a graduate of Amherst Regional High School. He graduated from Saint Francis Xavier University with an Engineering Diploma in 1960, and is a graduate of Nova Scotia Tech (now known as Technical University of Nova Scotia) with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) 1963. David belonged to the Association of Professional Engineers, Ontario. He worked as a Construction Engineer with Quebec Iron and Titanium in Sorel, Quebec. David worked in Port Hawkesbury, N.S. with Lummus Co. of Canada, and with the Ralph M. Parsons Co. Ltd. He also worked in Ram River, Alberta, on the Acquataine Site, as Resident Cost Engineer, and Calgary with Parsons as Senior Cost Engineer/Estimator. He was a Construction Manager for Great Lake Steel, Thunder Bay, Ont. He was Contract Administrator for Noranda Inc. Hemlo Division, Marathon, Ont. He did work with Mining Corp of Timmins, Ont and A.J. MacKinnon & Associates at Placer Dome Phase 11 Expansion. David worked with Gorf Contracting in Kirkland Lake, Ont, as Construction Manager. He loved his work and the challenges the different aspects presented to him. David was interested in gardening, furniture refinishing, curling, bridge, golf and chess. Like his grandson said “Grampie you were born to play chess” He liked all music but particularly Jazz. His family was very close to his heart and we will miss him very much. He is survived by his estranged wife and friend, the former Sharon Hire, three sons Michael, Stephen and Jeffrey (Laura) all of Edmonton, Alberta; one brother Raymond (Denise) and one sister Gerladine White both of Moncton, N.B; grandchildren Devon Scott and Karlee Sharon of Edmonton, Alberta; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Shannon Yvonne and sister Margaret (Marmie) Torok. Cremation has taken place. His family will receive visitors on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 from 7-9 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, N.S. (667-9906) A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at 11 a.m. from St. Charles Roman Catholic Church with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating.
