CAMPBELL, Ian William, Barrister & Solicitor - Ian died suddenly as a result of a massive coronary at his home near Norwood, Ontario, on Monday May 11, 2009, at the age of 62. He was born in Toronto on February 23, 1947 and attended the University of Toronto Schools (UTS), then the University of Toronto where he completed all his course work for a Ph.D. in English. Ian was drawn to Law, so switched from English and graduated from U. of T. with a Law degree. He then set up his law practice in Norwood, where he stayed for just over 30 years until his death. He practised his profession with the utmost integrity, originality and dedication. Ian adored his art, books, the Blues and single-malt Scotch, and lived a full life pursuing all four interests, often at the same time. He was the beloved son of Lois (Carter) and Gordon Campbell. He is survived by his sister Susan (Peter McMurtry) and his nephews Darcy and Evan McMurtry, along with cousins in Peterborough and Niagara- on-the Lake. Ian was a generous and loving brother, uncle, friend and employer. Ian will be greatly missed by his secretary of 28 years, Brenda Baptie and her family, members of the legal and real estate communities. His love of life and sense of humour will live on in his many friends. Our lives will be changed forever by his absence. As per Ian's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Paul Smith, Barrister & Solicitor will be overseeing Ian's practice and Brenda will remain present in the office.
