Mary ZAZULA

SKULSKY , Mary (nee Zazula)Born in Wostok, AB, December 15, 1916 Mary passed away peacefully in her 92nd year on July 2, 2009 at St. Michael's extended care Centre. Mary is survived by one son George (Jane) Skulsky, two daughters Rosemary (Vern) Slaney and Jeanette Hosack. She is also survived by two brothers Stan (Aurora) Zazula and Mike (Rose) Zazula. She is the proud grandmother of David (Robyn) Skulsky, Robert Skulsky, Michael (Alison) Slaney, Erin Slaney, Kathleen (Andy) Lissett, Colleen (Scott) Reed, Christy (Patrick) O'Donovan, Aimee Hosack and Ernest Hosack. Mary had eleven great-grandchildren children, Sophia Skulsky, Nikolai Skulsky, Sophie Gaughan, Jack Gaughan, Tobias Lissett, Juliette Lissett, Ashley Slaney, Morgan Slaney, Bradley O'Donovan, Liam O'Donovan, Aiden O'Donovan and Cadence Hosack. She was predeceased by her husband Peter Skulsky May 18, 1978, brother Arthur Zazula in 1933, Parents Nancy Zazula (nee Bilyj) 1971, Metro Zazula 1975, Grandparents Hryn Zazula in 1937 and Matrona Zazula in 1939. Mary grew up in the Star/Edna Wostok areas of Alberta and was educated in the Dilo, Skowiatyn and Andrew district schools. Mary and Peter were married in Edmonton and resided in Calgary, Ranfurly, St Michael and Edmonton areas. She will be remembered by the many friends and colleagues that she met along her various career paths. Special thank you to the Staff of the Norwood and St. Michael's Extended care centres for their wonderful care. A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Parish, 7007 - 109 Street and the Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the EVERGREEN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 16204 Fort Road. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Mary may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Vichnaya Pamyat.
