LEAVITT, Donald 2009-07-07 On Saturday, July 4th 2009 Donald C. Leavitt died at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Don was born June 2, 1928 in Picton, Ontario. Don was a Professional Engineer (Civil), Queens University 1956. He had a 34 year career with MacMillan Bloedel Ltd. in Toronto, Vancouver, Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan and Thunder Bay. Don married Anne Dickinson of Kemptville, Ontario in 1956. Don is survived by Anne, their three children and six grandchildren; Dawn Louise (Greg) Wolnairski and their boys Grahame and Michael from Winnipeg; Grahame (Nancy) and their children Matthew and Michelle of Thunder Bay; and Jennifer (Steve) Convey, and their girls Alexandra and Katie from Toronto. Don was active in the Chamber of Commerce, Vice Chair of Development Thunder Bay, President of the Forest Capital of Canada Association for Thunder Bay and area. Don was also involved in the Port Arthur Gyro Club as President and then served as Governor of Gyro International District Seven. There will be a cremation and private family interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A reception will be held on Thursday July 9th at Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre, 226 S. Syndicate Avenue, from 5 pm - 8 pm. Memories of Don will be shared at 6:30 pm.
