RIVERS, Catherine Idella (Ashenden) - Peacefully at Northland Pointe on June 5th in her 95th year, with her family at her side, Catherine Idella (Del) Rivers is reunited in love and faith with Jack (1987), her husband of fifty years, and beloved daughter, Bonnie (2009). Survived by sons John (Sherry), Bill (Nancy), Gerry (Sue), and son-in-law Ron King. Cherished grandmother of Rick King, Tracey Robb (John), Laura Prior, John Rivers Jr., Derek Rivers (Sheri), Steve Rivers (Tammy), Chris, Ali, Jackie and Tom Rivers. Great Grandma will be sadly missed by Cody, Jesse, Dylan, Jason, Jennilynn, Juliette, Victoria, Abbey, Rachel, Cate, Zachary and Jack. Idella is also survived by her brother, Charles Ashenden, sister and best friend, Charlotte Wetherup. Predeceased by sisters Mary Burghardt, Frances Gow and brothers Irwin, Heward, George and Bill Ashenden. Born and raised in Port Colborne, Idella was a charter member of the Port Colborne Lioness Club, faithful parishioner at St. James & St. Brendan Anglican Church and an active member of the Anglican Church Women (ACW) there. Visitation has been entrusted to the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME at 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Wednesday, June 10th between 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. James & St. Brendan Anglican Church, or Meals on Wheels. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at St. James & St. Brendan Anglican Church on Thursday, June 11th at 11:00 am. Following the service, a celebration of Idella's life will be held at the Guild Hall, Charlotte St., Port Colborne. Interment at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens will take place on Saturday, June 27th for both Idella and daughter Bonnie King (March 26th, 2009).
