SMILEY, Florence (Payne) - Of Albright Manor in Beamsville passed away on September 24, 2009 at West Lincoln Hospital in Grimsby in her 97th year. She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford Smiley. Florence was born in Thorold, the daughter of Frederick and Agnes (Steep) Payne. She leaves behind her sister Nora Zumstein of Albright Manor and several nieces and nephews and their families. Florence and her husband were dairy farmers for 24 years in the Silverdale area. She was a 40 year member of the Rebekah Lodge serving as Noble Grand and P.D.D.P. of Zone 15. Before her marriage she was associated with the Thorold South All People's Mission as a Sunday school teacher and C.G.I.T. leader. She was also a 60 year member of the Women's Institute and a member of Wesley United Church in Welland. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to visit the family at the H.L. CUDNEY FUNERAL HOME, 241 West Main Street, Welland, on Tuesday, September 29th from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Wesley United Church, 244 First Avenue, N., Welland, on Wednesday, September 30th at 11 a.m. with visitation at the church one hour prior to service time.
