APTHORP, Harry F. - A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Charing Cross, Harry F. Apthorp died peacefully at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Saturday September 26, 2009 at the age of 92. Born in Raleigh Township, son of the late Harmon & Beatrice (Illman) Apthorp. Beloved husband of the late Virginia Apthorp (2007). Loving father of Daniel & Nettie Louise Apthorp of Blenheim, Kenneth & Victoria Apthorp, Patricia Apthorp, and Wendy Apthorp, all of Chatham. Cherished grandfather of Michael Apthorp & his fiancée Sherri Keller, Lori & Ron Jones, Jason & Rachel Apthorp, Christopher & Melissa Apthorp, and Debra & Marc Mayhew. Proud great grandfather of 10, and predeceased by one great grandson. Dear brother of Lloyd & Ruby Apthorp of Chatham. Harry farmed until 1978. He was a salesman for Co-operators Insurance for 31 years, and DeKalb Seeds for 17 years. Harry was a longtime volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society & CHAP, and was an active member of Evangel Community Church for many years. Family received friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday afternoon and evening. Funeral Service at Evangel Community Church, 76 Sandys Street, Chatham on Tuesday September 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bill Pipke Jr. officiating.
