Iris Marion GARNER

GARNER , Iris Marion Iris Marion Garner passed away at home surrounded by her family on October 9, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Iris was predeceased by her dear husband Herb in 1998. Iris is survived by her three children Scott (Marg), Nancy (Dave Handy), and Bill (Kara), and her grandchildren of whom she was so proud: Paul, Brian, Sam, Karen, Madeleine, Molly, Marnie, and Drew. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Alice. Iris was born on February 25, 1927; she spent her early years growing up in Weyburn, SK, and it was there that she and Herb were married. Her working years were spent at the University of Calgary. Her many loyal friends and extended family provided her with much happiness and friendship. Iris' bravery and dignity during her illness inspired all who knew her. Funeral Services will be held at St. David's United Church, (3303 Capital Hill Crescent N.W.) on Saturday, October 31 at 11:30 a.m. Iris loved animals, especially her "granddogs", and requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name be made to the Calgary Humane Society, 4455 - 110 Avenue S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2C 2T7.
