LOGEL, Edward Arthur - of Grafton, Ontario died peacefully on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at St Joseph's at Fleming in Peterborough in his 95th year. Survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Mary Molloy. Loving father of John and Brenda, Bernadette Pettipas and George, Chris and Penny, Peter and Mary- Jo, Gerard and Betty-Ann. Treasured grandfather of Christopher and wife Andrea, Katherine and Chuck Smith, Matthew, Angela, Kathleen, Leah-Ann, Kristina, Edward, David and Maggie and Johanna. Great grandfather to Emma and Elissa. Also survived by his devoted sisters, Margaret and Kathleen Logel of Elmira, Ontario and over fifty nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son-in-law Grant Pettipas, his parents, George Logel and Christine Schiebel, as well as siblings Stella, Laura, Charlie, Alf, Oscar, Mary, Helen, Frank, Bill and Jerome. A man of diverse interests, Ed enjoyed reading, discussing politics and world affairs, studying scripture, walking long distances with Tippy, his border collie, researching the history and uses of medicinal herbs and plants, deep massage therapy and the antics of his grandchildren. Never influenced by outward appearances, Ed always looked beneath the surface to find the good in everyone, providing a steadfast example of Christianity for his family and friends. He took pleasure in making others laugh and often said that “a person's smile is a thing of great beauty“. Fifty years before its benefits were known, Ed committed to organic farming, supplying his family and the surrounding area with healthy fruits and vegetables. Some may know him only as the “Don't Panic! Go Organic!“ person. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph's at Fleming in Peterborough would be appreciated by the family. Visitation at MacCOUBREY FUNERAL HOME, 30 King Street East, Cobourg from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Sunday, November 15, 2009. A celebration of Ed's life will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grafton on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 11 am. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Grafton. (Arrangements entrusted to DUFFUS FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 745-4612. On-line condolences can be made at www.duffusfuneralhome.com 11735069
