CRAWFORD Shirley-Ida. On Monday, November 30, 1998, seventy years, Shirley Ida Crawford entered into rest at the Fernie District Hospital. Shirley is survived by three children: Alex Crawford and his wife Susan of Fernie, Janice Taylor and her husband Tim of Montreal, Quebec, and Joanne Marzin and her husband Tom of Ottawa, Ontario and four grandchildren: Cyndee Bye, Christi Crawford, Angela Taylor and Max Taylor. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, John Whyte Crawford. Shirley was born in Montreal, Quebec on September 9, 1928 - the only child of William and Emily Barrie. Following the death of her husband in 1993 she moved to Fernie where she lived with her son and daughter-in-law and her beloved cat, Max. She was a quiet woman who kept to herself, enjoying reading and crossword puzzles. In the days just prior to her death she celebrated with joy her granddaughter's wedding, and was looking forward with anticipation to the birth of her first great-grandchild. She will be forever loved and always remembered. Cremation was held. A private memorial service will be held in Nanaimo in 1999. Should friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Shirley's name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation B.C. & Yukon, c/o Mrs. Hilda Cadarath, P.O. Box 2194, Fernie, B.C. V0B 1M0. Arrangements entrusted to Cherished Memoirs Funeral Services Ltd.
