Agnes CUDDY

CUDDY Agnes, Sister, CSJ (Sister Mary Agnes) Sister Agnes Cuddy entered into her eternal rest at the Ottawa General Hospital on Wednesday, April 21, 1999 as a result of a traffic accident. Sister Agnes entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Pembroke on September 8, 1945. She was in the 54th year of her religious life. Left to mourn her loss are her sisters in the Congregation especially her two blood sisters, Sister Adele Cuddy and Sister Estelle Cuddy, her nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as many friends in the following areas where she ministered: Douglas and Mount St. Patrick. She trained at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. She was a highly respected nurse and used her skills in the hospitals in Barrhead, AB, and Radville, SK. In Radville, she was responsible for the construction of a senior citizens complex, namely Marian Home. In 1977, Sister worked in the Pastoral Care Department at Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home in Regina where she served until June 1997. This concluded her 41 years of service in the health field in Western Canada. She then returned to our Motherhouse in June where she continued her pastoral ministry. Sister Agnes was born in Brudenell, ON, a daughter of the late Edward Cuddy and Mary Daly. She is predeceased by her sister, Julia Shields, and her brothers, Edward, Tom, Jack, Pat, Joe, Howard, Isaiah, Frank, Bede, Leo, Ambrose and Dan. Resting at St. Joseph's motherhouse, Pembroke after 3 p.m. on Friday, April 23. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel. Interment at St. Columba's Cemetery, Pembroke. Funeral arrangements by the Neville Funeral Home, Pembroke.
