MacWHIRTER, Rita L. Peacefully in her sleep at Providence Manor, Kingston on Tuesday September 21, 1999. Rita (nee Downey), in her seventy-ninth year, beloved wife of the late Reid MacWhirter, who predeceased her in 1992. Dear mother of Dan and his wife Janet of Kingston, John and his wife France Gareau of Ste. Agathe, Quebec and Linda and her husband Colin Downtown of Langley, BC. Loving `Grandma' of Colin, Elise, James, Lauren and Emily. Survived by her sisters, Sr. Monica Downey of Toronto and Ida Mae Ball of Oakville. Resting at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (Counter St. at Hwy 2) Kingston. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service in the chapel on Friday, September 24, 1999 at 11 a.m. Interment Glenhaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Alzheimer Society or Providence Manor would be appreciated by the family.
