PHELAN, Dorothy Mary With deep sadness we announce the passing of Dorothy at The Riverdale Hospital, on Tuesday, October 12, 1999, in her 86th year, after a long illness. She has Joined her beloved husband Edmund Cyprien Phelan. Dear mother of Brigid and Timothy. Grandmother of Mary Katherine, Christina, and her only great-grandson Zachery Noah. She leaves behind her sisters Muriel, Marjorie, Pauline, Paddy, and many nieces and nephews. Deeply missed by her very dear and close friend Joan Wood. Dorothy had a full and exciting life. In her early seventies, she started a new career as a television commercial actress. Her credits included Catelli Spaghetti Sauce, the Ontario Department of Energy, McDonalds's, and the list goes on. Her picture has appeared in many advertisements such as Mylanta and Birds Eye. She also managed to break into the U.S. market, and has appeared in the spots for the Buffalo Savings Bank and the Buffalo Courier Express. In addition, she did voice dubbing in films and appeared in the movie ;Mrs. Soffel. Dorothy has touched many lives with her wisdom, charm, personality and her sense of humour. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The family's sincere gratitude to Fema Dumo for her compassion and kindness to Dorothy as her caregiver and companion for the past four years.
