Unexpectedly, on Friday, January 26, 2001 in her beloved Barbados at the age of seventy-eight years. Sadly missed by her children John, Katy, Mungo and Henry, her husband Michael and her grandchildren Rowan, Kade, Michelle, Nicolas, Emilie, James and Chiara. A woman of constant energy in both body and mind, a loving mother of great wisdom and patience, a devoted academic and a talented artist. She was to many of us a wonderful friend of generous spirit and profound integrity. Her passing leaves our lives forever changed. A service to celebrate the life of this extraordinary person will be held in Montreal on Wednesday, February 28 at McGill University Chapel, William and Henry Birks Building. All friends and family are welcome. For those who wish to do so, donations may be made to the Joan Marsden Endowment Fund, McGill University, c/o Andrea Segal, 3605 rue de la Montagne, Montreal, Quebec.
