Peacefully at the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, Burlington, Ontario on Thursday, March 22, 2001 in his ninety-sixth year. Husband of the late Frances Mary (nee Marsden) Ackerman. Dear father of Pat and her husband Don McTaggart of Burlington. Loved grandpa of Barrie and his wife Jane of Oakville and Lynda of Hamilton. Great-pappa to Andrew and Kathryn. Predeceased by his brother Jack, sisters Margaret and Flo of Brockville and May. Longtime retired employee of Canada Packers (Wilsil Ltd.) of Montreal and former resident of St. Lambert, Quebec. The family will receive friends at Smith's Funeral Home, 485 Brant Street (one block north of City Hall), Burlington, on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Wellington Square United Church, 2121 Caroline Street, Burlington on Monday, March 26, 2001 at 2 p.m. Donations made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Red Cross Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
